Chef Safaris
Let your customers experience some the UK’s finest produce
Cumbria offers some of the finest produce in the UK. Celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall have all featured Cumbria’s finest producers on their popular TV series.
Cumbria’s lamb, beef, cheese and sausages are served in many Michelin starred restaurants, and His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales regularly visits local food producers during his many visits to the Lake District.
Cumbria On A Plate runs Chef Safaris to offer professional chefs and restaurateurs the opportunity to meet the county’s best artisan food producers and to see how the award winning food is made, and of course to sample magnificent ingredients that could transform your restaurant menu.
During the day-long tour, you will:
See how local farmers rear their animals and harvest their produce
Discover how local artisans produce traditional cheeses, butter, ham and sausages.
Find out how organic wheat is ground into flour before it’s baked into bread and cakes, or taste rich, handcrafted chocolates.
Many producers open exclusively for safari guests and are not open to the public. Tour days run from 9:30am to 5:30pm, but these times are flexible.
